Everything looks good on this device, the only complaint that I have with it is that I have to unplug it from the wall about every day to reset it. If I dont it wont come on but once I reset it the thing works and shows a great picture.
I was unable to connect this converter box to Comcast Cable TV service. I then talked to Comcast and they claimed their cable service only works with their own boxes. I had not known this was the case when I bought the converter at Amazon. Now I am stuck with it.
Consumer Reports were totally off base when they recommended this product. I am sending this back to get refund, however, what happens to my $40 coupon. Who is actually benefiting from this. Certainly not me.
It gets so hot that I am reluctant to leave it plugged in if there is no one in the room. I selected this converter box on the basis of product reviews from the leading consumer testing association. It was highly rated, but I found that their testing overlooked a flaw that made this product close to worthless. The unit I received has ventilation holes in both the top and bottom and still gets too hot to touch. I have found other reviews that indicate older models had no ventilation holes in the top and evidently were even hotter.
2009Sept08Program failure. Onus is on government; my TV worked fine until they broke it, gave my airwaves away and I had to pay for a fix that does not work. Now I am without my TV.And where was Consumer Reports with a reliability report including a warantee (or lack thereof) evaluation.Unit runs hot, drops channels, and now will not even turn on.Anyone considering taking a chance on this unit should first make a trial run of warantee claim for above failures at Access Customer Service.
